My Yamaha with a superb tone

I started playing at the Holly Bush Folk Club, in Nuneaton in 1970, and have enjoyed folk clubs everywhere since.

I started out listening to Joni Mitchell, James Taylor music during the initial months of playing. My most influential performer remains Ralph McTell, and the warmth of an evening of his music still excites me. Folk circuit performers that I enjoy include Mike Silver, Allan Taylor, Derek Brimstone, Jez Lowe and Vin Garbutt. However, no one can replace the power of Chris While and Julie Matthews.

My Yamaha FG340 has served me well. I bought it in 1977, and it has a marvellous tone. I use D'addario light gauge (EJ16)strings which I have found to suit both the guitar and my playing very well.
